VAT and ISD removed on imports of power generation equipment
On 5 October 2026, the national government announced the removal of VAT (15%) and Currency Outflow Tax (ISD, 5%) on imports of equipment for private hydroelectric generation and energy storage projects.
- The announced effective date is 6 October 2026, but the legal instrument formalizing the measure has not yet been published.
- We recommend documenting ongoing imports and waiting for the rule and for guidance from the SRI and the customs authority before applying the exemption.
